Work Based Learning
Our Work Based Learning staff works with students to assist them with on-the-job technical work experience and cooperative educational experiences. We also partner with business and industry in Gratiot and Isabella counties to identify specific skills and educational experiences that students must have to meet industry needs. The identified skills and experiences are incorporated into hands-on training programs, which include classroom instruction and experience in the workplace. In collaboration with local businesses, we help to meet their part-time, temporary, or permanent employment needs.
Cooperative Education (Co-op) or Work Experience
The Co-op and Work Experience programs are designed for juniors and seniors enrolled in any of our GI-TEC programs. This is an opportunity for students to practice classroom skills in a paid, part-time job. Work-Based Learning coordinators work with employers to develop a mutually supervised training program.
