Herbs & Spices Restaurant

Herbs and Spices is a restaurant located at Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center (GI-TEC) where students learn how to cook and run a restaurant.  It is a student run business.  The restaurant is open in accordance with the school schedule.  Students work every day in the restaurant as they train for a career in the food service industry.  Come see us for lunch!

Herbs and Spices is a fully operational restaurant meeting all the same criteria as any other in our community.  Students are trained and work in six different areas, such as:  front of the house, dish room, bake shop, pizza/salad bar, line and pots and pans.  Students are responsible for things such as:  inventory, keeping books, cooking, baking, dishes and cleanup.  The restaurant offers daily breakfast and lunch specials, homemade soups, along with traditional student favorites, like chicken tenders and fries.

Food Items at The School Store

Every day of the week, students are responsible for supplying The School Store with various food items for sale.  Popular items include their famous chocolate chip cookies, personal pizzas and calzones.  This is just a few of the great items that the students make for The School Store.

Take N Bake Meals

Culinary Arts students are tasked throughout the year to create Take N Bake meals.  These are speciality dishes that are offered as "to go" meals for public and staff.

Catering

Students have the opportunity to participate in catering experiences throughout the year.  Opportunities such as:  school functions, meetings and special events may require catering services.  These range from dinner, lunch, or breakfast.  Students serve as few as 10 guests to as many as 800.
